The Ultra-Orthodox Illustration Scene, Defining Characteristics

The growth and development of the illustration field in the ultra-Orthodox sector has been meteoric: In recent years thousands of children’s books have been published, including hundreds of comic books. In an event revolving around the exhibition ‘Pollack Art’, which brings together the works of Gadi Pollack, pioneer of ultra-Orthodox illustration and comics, we will come together to hear about the renaissance of the contemporary ultra-Orthodox illustration scene. In a lecture by Dr. Eli Eshed and a panel of Pollack’s students, we will address the teaching style, path and life-view of Pollack’s illustrations and his style’s implications on the sector’s world of design and illustration.
