What is Above? What is Below?

The kite, that lightweight delta form made of paper and bamboo originating in ancient China, is a delicate and compelling balance between opposing forces: the pull downward and the unpredictable power of the wind upward. A striking decorative object alongside an instrument of war. Children and adults alike, holding the string, experience the tension between the grounding that is imposed on us and the call upward, an ongoing play of control and release.

The works in the exhibition, which correspond with feelings of nostalgia and emotion, are not only a visual celebration of kites; they offer sober perspectives on reality, revealed through the prism of the seemingly innocent object, the kite itself.
